2005 Stay Out! Stay Alive! Event Union Local Elementary School Belmont County, Ohio

On April 12, 2005, Mike Snyder of MSHA's Approval and Certification Center provided a 'stay Out Stay Alive� presentation at the Union Local Elementary School located in Belmont County, Ohio. The students shown in the photo are from Ms. Diab and Ms. Lodge's fifth grade class. Brittany Van Horn was "Mike's Miner Buddy" and donned her underground gear to demonstrate to the class just some of the equipment a miner has to carry to work underground. The class also examined various rocks and minerals through a hands on exercise and did some prospecting on the kids section of MSHA's homepage.
