A 50 year-old woman was taken by Medflight helicopter to Akron General Hospital late Tuesday after falling at an abandoned gravel pit.

The woman was partying with her family when she climbed about 30 feet off the ground on an old steel stairway and fell from the top, according to the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office. Wednesday morning she was listed in serious condition.

Assisting at the scene were the Newcomerstown Fire Department and Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office.
