An Ames, Iowa teenager drowned after going for a swim in a Story County Park. The victim was swimming with friends at the former rock quarry, when he dove in the water and never resurfaced. According to rescue divers, one of the boy’s legs seemed to have been caught in a rope tied to a buoy. There were no lifeguards watching the crowded park at the time. (Source: WOI-TV, Des Moines)
