A 22-year-old man drowned shortly after 4 p.m. Monday in a quarry pond in Montville, Conn. It was the third drowning in Eastern Connecticut in less than a month. The quarry pond is one of many areas where swimming is prohibited across the region. The areas attract people looking for a private spot to cool off during the steamy summer months. The area where the victim and his friends were swimming Monday was clearly marked off-limits, according to owner Matt Kobyluck. "Anytime you have hot weather, water around and unsupervised kids, there's a potential for a tragedy," Norwich Police Sgt. Chris Ferace said Tuesday. (Source: Norwich Bulletin)
