A 22-year-old man was killed and his passenger was injured when the four-wheeler they were riding on apparently ran into a steel gate at Willis Sand and Gravel Pit in Bogalusa, La. Officials said that a New Year's Eve party was apparently under way at the time of the crash.

According to Capt. George Bonnett of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Department, the incident occurred about 10 p.m. Nicholas Johnson was thrown from the four-wheeler after it struck what was described as "a steel gate." Bonnett said the incident is still being investigated and toxicology tests are still being conducted. (Source: MSHA, Bogalusa Daily News)
