June 4, 2008

A 37 year-old Oregon woman was fatally injured when the ATV she was riding flipped over and landed on her, striking her in the head.

When Douglas County Sheriff's deputies arrived around 5 p.m., the victim was receiving CPR from Emegency Medical Services personnel from Riddle Fire. Personnel from Fire District 2 also responded to the scene, and transported Davis to Mercy Hospital, where she later died.

Witnesses at the scene told deputies the victim had been riding the ATV on a trail when she drove over a 15-foot drop-off. She was thrown from the vehicle, which then flipped over and landed on top of her, striking her head. She was not wearing a helmet.
