Stay Out Stay Alive Fatal Accident Summaries
for 2008

February 12, 2008

Three people were fatally injured when the car they were driving in felled into a flooded quarry in Kentland Indiana.

State Conservation Officer Matt Tholen says the bodies of two women and a man were found inside the car today after a crane lifted the vehicle from about 55 feet of water.

Tholen says the car likely went into the Rogers Group Quarry on Monday, when much of Newton County was blanketed with heavy fog. Investigators believe the driver might not have seen a stop sign, causing the car to crash through a chain-link fence gate and a guardrail before falling into the quarry.
