A 33-year-old man died after suffering head and chest trauma from a diving accident near Groveland, the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

The victim had been swimming with family at Rainbow Pools along the south fork of the Tuolumne River. He jumped from a rock at least 30 feet high, deputies said, then landed on another rock just below the surface.

Responders administered CPR, but the man died on the way to Sonora Regional Medical Center, deputies said.
