A 21 year-old Marine drowned while swimming with friends in a long-abandoned quarry in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Quincy police and firefighters, State Police and the Coast Guard launched a search at 2 a.m. They reportedly received a call from a group of people who said they had been swimming in a quarry and that one of their friends had disappeared in the water.
The body was recovered at 6:20 a.m.
The quarries were for decades popular swimming holes for local teens. They claimed more than a dozen lives from 1960 to 1998.
