A 22-year-old Wisconsin man drowned while swimming in a McHenry County, Ill., quarry. The young man was swimming with friends in a 20-acre unused quarry, according to Lakemoor police. Friends said the victim appeared to have had some problems in the water shortly before he dipped below the surface. Rescuers from the McHenry Township Fire Protection District recovered his body in 15-foot deep water about 20 minutes after he disappeared. The gravel pit has not been mined for years and, despite a fence and signs warning people not to trespass, people often go there to swim, according to police authorities. (Source: Associated Press)
