A freshman defensive lineman at the University of Nebraska apparently drowned in a sand pit near Kearney, Neb. The Buffalo County sheriff’s office said the 19-year-old was attempting to swim across the D.X. sand pit when he sank from the view of witnesses. Others at the pit called 911. A Kearney Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Dive Team found the body about a half hour after the report came in. (Source: KETV/Omaha)
