This sign combines speed limit and grade information. Drivers not only see that the speed limit is 10 mph, but also that they will be descending a 15% grade for 1500 feet. All of this information is important because, for example, a new driver on the property may decide to descend the grade in a lower gear than he/she would have if the sign had only stated the speed limit. Most drivers are familiar with the limitations of their trucks, and will know how to safely descend varying road grades. This type of informative sign may help drivers arrive at decisions that could save lives or prevent accidents.
