Please join us Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 10:00 am to Noon EST for an important Mine Safety and Health Administration stakeholder teleconference.

There have been 22 mining deaths so far this year, with four of those in September.  With October an historic month for increased mining deaths, there is a need for the entire mining community to refocus efforts on preventing these tragedies. We will discuss MSHA plans and actions that can be undertaken by the mining industry during the meeting.

We will have a general stakeholder session from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.  Then we will break into two sessions, one for Coal and one for Metal and Nonmetal.  There will be time for your questions during the call.

In addition to the discussion on fatalities, the Coal breakout session will additionally focus on Refuge Alternatives, Mine Rescue Teams, and the incorporation of voice communications in self-contained breathing devices for the next generation of self-contained self-rescuers (SCSRs).
