Ms. Leila Fleming Staffler, Secretary
CNMI Department of Labor

CNMI Department of Labor
1356 Mednilla Avenue, Capitol Hill
Saipan, MP 96950

The CNMI Department of Labor operates in the village of Capitol Hill on the island of Saipan.  Saipan is located in the Mariana Islands archipelago in the western Pacific Ocean. The fourteen island chain makes up the CNMI.  Saipan, its capital, is 139 miles directly north of the Territory of Guam.  The CNMI is also a United States Territory.

The CNMI Department of Labor offers training programs and conducts classes for miners and contract employees working on mining operations on leased public or government land.

The purpose of the training is to educate miners and mine operators of the many health and safety hazards related to the mining industry.  Assistance is provided for compliance with applicable sections of Federal and State mine safety and health regulations.

The program conducts job safety analysis (JSA) to train miners to anticipate and eliminate safety hazards.

Classes include: 30 CFR parts 46 New Miner Training; 30 CFR parts 46 Annual Refresher Training; and Hazard Training (as requested)

The program oversees mining health and safety in the northern islands, which are all islands north of Saipan.
