The Controller Operator data set provides historical mine ownership information, including which legal entities (e.g., individuals, partnerships, associations, corporations, firms, corporate subsidiaries, or organizations) have controlled or operated the mine and the timeframe during which the controller operated such mine. This data set helps MSHA track which legal entities were responsible for operating or directing a mine and the corresponding timeframe during which they held such responsibilities.
