The MSHA Library has developed a tradition of excellence as an integral part of MSHA's mission - improving the health and safety of our Nation's miners. For almost half a century, the MSHA Technical Information Center &  Library has provided comprehensive and integrated information services to the mining community, mine safety professionals, and the public.

The collection is diverse in nature, yet still maintains its focus on mine safety and health. Collection development focuses on these materials.

The library has extensive general holdings on subjects related to mine health and safety, including 60,000 books, 7,000 Bureau of Mines research materials, 33,000 mine fatality reports, 13,000 documents, 6,000 videos, and 5,000 mining photographs on a wide variety of mining related topics.

This is a Reference Collection, Fatality Reports Archive and Historic Photos collection of the Academy Library in West Virginia.
