Julie Ann Schmidt is MSHA ‘s Chief of Staff for Mine Safety and Health Administration. She was appointed March 31, 2025.
Prior to this, Ms. Schmidt was running Lithium Logistics Group, a global event and project management firm. She worked with many clients in the science and technical fields including the Nobel Foundation, Honeywell, and the National Sheriffs Association. She is also a Certified Diplomatic Protocol Officer by the Protocol School of Washington.Prior to her work at Lithium Logistics Group, she worked as a Field Engineer for Metropolitan Council Environmental Services where she managed a portfolio of wastewater compliance clients. She also served as Pollution Control Specialist at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, working on issues around mercury and lead pollution. She has many years of developing training content and training on many different topics.
Ms. Schmidt holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineer from the University of North Dakota School of Engineering & Mines.
