The 107(a) Orders data set contains information on § 107(a) orders issued by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). These orders are issued when inspectors identify imminent dangers at a mine site and require immediate action.

Each record includes key details about the mine, operator, contractor, and the order itself.

- MINE ID
- MINE NAME
- STATE
- Operator, contractor, and controller information:
- OPERATOR NAME
- CONTROLLER NAME
- CONTRACTOR NAME
- Type of violator (operator or contractor)
- Order details:
- VIOLATION NO.
- VIOLATION DATE
- TERMINATION DATE
- Mine type (coal or metal/non-metal)
Notes:
- Orders that were later vacated (voided) are not included.
- The data set can be linked to other data sets using key field:
- Mine ID – to connect it with the Mines data
