North Idaho College (NIC) remains committed to providing expert health and safety training, in compliance with 30 CFR Parts 46, 48 and 49. The Idaho Mine Safety Training Program adds emphasis to the following topics related to mine fatalities and injuries, and will tailor the program accordingly with MSHA approved classes:

  • Miners’ rights and responsibilities
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Rules to Live By (RTLB)
  • Power haulage accident prevention
  • Fall prevention
  • Silicosis prevention and respiratory protection
  • Sliding material
  • Water hazards
  • Machinery
  • Explosives
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Supervisors, contractors, and truck drivers
  • HAZCOM

Training is conducted on-site whenever feasible and is designed to be as site specific as possible. Before training begins, the program instructor does an actual site inspection with the mine manager or safety supervisor. The training program is adapted to address their findings.
