Surface Limestone Quarry – A dozer operator was pushing overburden on a waste pile when the dozer slid down the pile over 125 feet. The dozer came to rest within 25 feet of the impounded water below. The 75 year old miner, who was wearing his seat belt, was successfully rescued after several hours with no life threatening injurie

Best Practices
  • Wear your seatbelt.
  • Maintain control of mobile equipment.
  • Remain cognizant of your position on a bench/stockpile/waste pile.
  • Eliminate distractions while operating equipment. Stop if you need to; eliminate the distraction and then continue your work.
  • Ensure that objects inside of the cab are secured so they don’t become airborne during an accident.
