VERMONT

State of Vermont Program Summary

Mr. Jay Ramsey
Workforce Development Director

Vermont Department of Labor
PO Box 750
Montpelier, VT 05601

Through a grant awarded to the Vermont Department of Labor, the Associated General Contractors of Vermont protects the safety and health of Vermont’s miners under the provisions of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 (Mine Act), as amended by the Mine Improvement and New Emergency Response Act of 2006 (MINER Act).

  • AGC/VT’s goal is to reduce injuries, illnesses, and unsafe conditions in Vermont mines by improving training quality, expanding access to compliance assistance, and strengthening field-level safety culture. This action plan aligns with MSHA’s mission by focusing on prevention and direct support for small operators and contractors. The project will utilize:
  • classroom instruction (both online and in-person),
  • site visits through our Scoops for Safety program,
  • hands-on demonstrations,
  • equipment simulator training, and
  • operator-specific compliance assistance.
