On, April 18, 2024, MSHA issued its final rule, entitled Lowering Miners’ Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica and Improving Respiratory Protection, to reduce miner exposures to respirable crystalline silica and improve respiratory protection for all airborne hazards. It is important for miners to learn how to protect themselves against silica and other airborne hazards and to understand what MSHA’s final rule requires mine operators to do to provide protection against silica and other airborne hazards.
